in arithmetic 0 means having no value e.g. 11 minus 11 = 0
with whole numbers ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18... ad infinitum ) it makes the number that comes before the zero ten times bigger e.g. 1 10 100 1000
with fractions and decimals ( .25 or .5 or .75 etc ) it makes the number that comes after the zero ten times smaller e.g. .025 .05 .075
